I can relate to this! I only really started understanding the feeling of "anger" when I got to my 40s -- looking back on my life, I think a lot of my sadness was actually masked anger.
Wow! I also think that a lot of my sadness, self-doubt and anxiety throughout my life were ways to blame myself and avoid feeling anger, I didn't know how to deal with it. I think I was taught as a child that "there's no point being angry" because I wouldn't be listened to.
